Asko Washer E2 Error: Water fill timeout

Asko washer E2 error is a common issue reported by Asko appliance owners. What Asko Error Code E2 Means Error code E2 on Asko washers (W6000, W4000, and Logic series) signals a water fill timeout. The machine opened the inlet valve but the drum did not reach the required water level within the allotted time, […]

Answer to continue safely

Is it safe to keep using?

No. The washer will not advance past the fill stage. Running it without a proper water supply risks damaging the pump and heating element. Do not continue until the fill issue is resolved.

Can I reset the code?

Yes. Power the machine off at the mains for at least 60 seconds. If the root cause (closed tap, kinked hose, blocked filter) has been fixed the error will clear on restart.

When to stop immediately?

Stop if you notice: Water enters the drum but then immediately drains away., The inlet hose feels very hot, indicating a cross-connection with the hot supply..

Symptoms You May Notice

Drum remains dry or nearly dry

After starting a cycle the drum contains little or no water even several minutes into the wash phase.

Cycle stops shortly after start

The washer pauses and displays E2 within the first few minutes before the drum begins to rotate.

Inlet valve buzzing but no water enters

A faint buzzing or clicking sound from the back of the machine indicates the valve is energised but water is not flowing through.

Door lock engages then program aborts

The door clicks locked as normal but the program fails to progress past the fill stage and the display freezes on E2.

Possible Causes

1

Kinked or closed water supply hose

The cold-water inlet hose behind the machine may be kinked, pinched against the wall, or the tap valve may be partially or fully closed.

DIY Possible
2

Blocked or faulty inlet valve filter

Sediment and limescale can clog the mesh filter inside the inlet valve, restricting water flow to a trickle that cannot satisfy the fill sensor.

DIY Possible
3

Failed water inlet valve solenoid

The solenoid coil inside the inlet valve may have burnt out, preventing the valve from opening even when the control board sends the correct signal.

Safe Checks You Can Do

These checks are safe for homeowners. No disassembly required. Do not remove panels or access internal components.
  1. 1

Check the water supply tap and hose

Pull the machine slightly away from the wall. Confirm the cold-water tap is fully open (handle parallel to pipe). Inspect the inlet hose for kinks or tight bends. Straighten and re-seat the hose if needed.

A tap that is only half open is a common cause of slow fill on Asko W6000 and W4000 series machines.

  2. 2

Clean the inlet valve mesh filter

Turn off the water supply tap. Unscrew the inlet hose from the back of the machine. Use needle-nose pliers to pull out the small mesh filter from inside the valve port. Rinse it under the tap and reinsert. Reconnect the hose and tighten firmly.

Have a towel ready — residual water will drip when you disconnect the hose.

    Tools required
  3. 3

    Reset the machine and retest

After reconnecting the water supply, power the machine off at the mains for 60 seconds, then power back on. Select a short quick-wash cycle and watch whether water enters the drum freely.

If water fills normally the fault is resolved. If E2 returns immediately, the inlet valve solenoid has likely failed and needs replacement.

When to Call a Professional

Contact a qualified technician if:

  • Error returns immediately after cleaning the inlet filter and confirming full water pressure.
  • Multimeter test shows the inlet valve solenoid coil is open-circuit (no continuity).
  • The pressure switch hose is cracked or disconnected, requiring internal access to replace.
