In 2010, Asko Appliances and the CPSC issued Recall #10-233, an expansion of the 2007 dishwasher recall to cover additional DBI-series and late D5000-series models that had not been included in the original action. Approximately 9,500 additional units were identified as sharing the same overheating junction box hazard.

The 2010 expansion arose after Asko’s service network identified further model variants manufactured between 2007 and 2009 that used the same problematic power distribution assembly. Post-market surveillance and consumer incident reports confirmed the same fire initiation pattern seen in the 2007 recall cohort.

Affected Models

DBI654, DBI675, DBI865, D5894, D5896, and D5900 series units manufactured between April 2007 and December 2009 are included in Recall #10-233. Check the model label on the left side of the inner door frame. Serial numbers starting with 07, 08, or 09 followed by a four-digit week-unit code are most likely affected.

  1. Immediately cease operating the dishwasher and switch off power at the breaker.
  2. Write down the full model number and serial number from the door-frame label.
