Asko dishwashers in the D3000 and early D5000 series were recalled in 2007 due to a fire hazard caused by an overheating junction box and power cord assembly. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Asko Appliances Inc. announced Recall #07-154 covering approximately 20,000 units sold in the United States between 2001 and 2007.

The junction box located beneath the dishwasher tub could overheat during normal wash cycles, igniting adjacent wiring insulation and cabinetry. Several incidents of smoke and minor fires were reported before the recall was issued, making prompt consumer action essential.

Models included in this recall: D3112, D3122, D3142, D3251, D3252, D5122, D5132, D5142, and D5152. The model number is printed on a label inside the door frame on the left-hand side. Units manufactured between January 2001 and March 2007 are within scope.

  1. Stop using the dishwasher immediately and unplug it from the wall outlet.
  2. Locate the model and serial number label on the inner door frame (left side).

  5. Do not resume use until an authorized technician has completed the repair and issued a signed service confirmation.
