Asko Washer Vibration Notice | Leveling Safety

Asko washer vibration notice — read this important safety alert for full details and affected models.

Excessive vibration from an unlevel Asko front-load washer can cause the unit to walk across the floor, damage flooring, loosen water connections, and — in stacked configurations — create a tip-over hazard that poses serious injury risk. Asko W6000 and W4000 series washers feature four independently adjustable leveling feet and a self-locking nut that must be tightened after any adjustment.

Asko washers spin at up to 1,600 RPM, generating significant dynamic force. Even a 2 mm variance in foot height can cause resonance amplification on certain floor materials, particularly suspended timber subfloors common in older North American homes. Correct leveling is essential before first use and should be re-checked after any appliance move.

Warning Signs to Look For

  • Audible banging or thumping during spin cycles
  • Visible movement of the appliance body during spin
  • Scuff marks on flooring around the feet
  • Loose or weeping water supply hose fittings after recent operation
  • Stacked dryer misalignment or vibration transmitted to the dryer above

Leveling and Safety Steps

  1. Place a spirit level on top of the washer, front-to-back and side-to-side.
  2. Adjust each foot by turning it clockwise (lower) or counterclockwise (raise) using a 17 mm wrench.
  3. Tighten the lock nut on each foot firmly against the cabinet base once level is achieved.
  4. Gently rock the washer by pressing opposite corners — there should be no rocking movement.
  5. In stacked configurations, ensure the Asko stacking kit (model STK10) is installed correctly and all four bolts are torqued to specification.
  6. After adjustment, run a spin-only cycle and verify that vibration is within normal limits before resuming regular use.

When to Call a Technician

If vibration persists after correct leveling, the drum bearings, shock absorbers, or suspension springs may be worn. A technician should diagnose the cause before it leads to drum damage or structural failure of the cabinet.
