Asko Oven Door Hinge Notice | Inspection Guide

Asko oven door hinge notice — read this important safety alert for full details and affected models.

A worn or damaged Asko oven door hinge can cause the door to drop suddenly when open, creating a burn hazard and potentially cracking the double-glazed door glass that forms part of the oven’s thermal insulation system. Asko built-in ovens in the OCS and OP series use heavy-duty spring-loaded hinges rated for the weight of the thick thermal door, and these hinges fatigue after years of high-cycle use.

An oven door that drops or does not hold position when opened to approximately 45 degrees is a clear sign of hinge spring fatigue. A door that falls open rapidly can spill hot food, cause contact burns, or hit the person using the oven. Inspection every two years is recommended for ovens used daily.

Warning Signs to Look For

  • Oven door dropping freely when opened past 30 degrees
  • Door not holding position at a partial-open angle
  • Visible gap or misalignment between the door and oven frame when closed
  • Grinding or clicking sound when opening or closing the door
  • Visible hinge arm bending or corrosion on the hinge body

Inspection Steps

  1. With the oven cold and switched off, open the door fully to the horizontal position and inspect both hinge arms where they enter the oven frame.
  2. Slowly raise the door from horizontal to 45 degrees and release — it should hold position or return gently to full open, not drop sharply.
  3. Check that the door sits flush against the oven frame all the way around when closed; uneven gaps indicate hinge misalignment.
  4. Examine the hinge lock levers (small tabs on the hinge arm) to ensure they are seated correctly in both the open and service positions.
  5. If any hinge defects are found, do not continue using the oven until the hinges are replaced.

Contact Information

Asko Consumer Support: 1-800-898-1879 | OEM oven door hinge pairs for OCS and OP series start from $78. Hinge replacement requires disassembly of the door glass panels and is recommended as a professional repair.

When to Call a Technician

Do not attempt to replace oven door hinges without experience working with thermal glass panels — the inner door glass can shatter if the door structure is incorrectly disassembled. Contact an Asko-authorized technician for all hinge and door glass work.
