Asko Freezer Water Line Notice | Inspection Guide

Asko freezer water line notice — read this important safety alert for full details and affected models.

The water supply line feeding Asko freezers with ice-maker or water-dispenser functions must be inspected annually for leaks, kinking, and mineral scaling that can restrict flow or cause slow-drip flooding behind the appliance. Asko FN-series combination units with ice makers use a 6 mm plastic or copper water line that runs from the household cold supply to the ice-maker inlet valve at the rear of the appliance.

Plastic water lines are susceptible to UV degradation if exposed to light and can develop micro-fractures at bends. Copper lines, while more durable, are prone to pinhole corrosion in homes with acidic water. Both types require a saddle valve or dedicated shut-off that should be inspected at the same time as the line.

Warning Signs to Look For

  • Reduced ice production volume or irregular ice cube shapes
  • Water pooling behind the appliance or on the floor beside it
  • Discolored or off-tasting ice cubes — may indicate bacterial growth in a stagnant line
  • Visible kinking or tight bend radius in the water line at the back of the freezer
  • White mineral scaling visible at the inlet valve connection

Inspection Steps

  1. Pull the appliance away from the wall far enough to access the full length of the water line.
  2. Inspect the entire line for kinks, discoloration, swelling, or wet spots along its length.
  3. Check both end connections — at the wall supply valve and at the appliance inlet valve — for drips or mineral crust.
  4. Turn off the water supply and open a nearby faucet to depressurize the line; check that the shut-off valve operates smoothly.
  5. If the line is more than five years old or shows any deterioration, replace it. OEM or compatible plastic braided ice-maker lines start from $16.

Contact Information

Asko Consumer Support: 1-800-898-1879 | Ice-maker inlet valve replacement by an Asko-authorized technician starts from $130 including labor.

When to Call a Technician

If replacing the water line does not restore normal ice production, or if the ice-maker inlet valve solenoid does not open when the freezer calls for water, contact an Asko-authorized technician. A faulty solenoid or frozen water line inside the appliance cabinet requires professional diagnosis.
