Asko dryer venting notice — read this important safety alert for full details and affected models.
Correct venting clearances for Asko vented dryers are essential to prevent carbon monoxide buildup and fire risk, and the exhaust duct must maintain a minimum 100 mm (4-inch) diameter with no more than two 90-degree bends between the dryer and the exterior vent cap. Asko T6 and T7 series vented models exhaust moist, hot air at temperatures that can ignite lint deposits in undersized or kinked ducts.
Many Asko dryers sold in North America are installed in tight utility closets or laundry stacks where duct routing is compromised by space constraints. Flexible foil ducts, which are common in these installations, are not recommended — rigid smooth-bore metal duct is the only fully safe option for Asko vented dryers.
Warning Signs to Look For
- Laundry room humidity noticeably elevated after drying cycles
- Vent cap flap not opening fully when dryer runs
- Lint accumulation visible inside the laundry room near the dryer
- Dryer cycle times increasing month over month
- Condensation on laundry room walls or ceiling
Venting Safety Steps
- Verify that the exhaust duct is rigid smooth-bore galvanized or aluminum — replace any flexible foil duct immediately.
- Check that the total duct run does not exceed 5 metres (16 feet) for straight runs, reducing by 1 metre for each 90-degree elbow.
- Inspect the exterior vent cap: it should open freely during operation and close fully when the dryer is off to prevent pest entry.
- Ensure a minimum 150 mm (6-inch) clearance between the dryer rear and the wall to avoid crushing the duct connection.
- Annually, disconnect the duct and check for lint accumulation throughout its length; clean with a dryer vent brush kit.

When to Call a Technician
If the duct cannot be rerouted to meet minimum bend and length requirements, a heat-pump condenser dryer (Asko T700 series) may be a safer alternative as it does not require external venting. An Asko dealer can advise on conversion options.
